Two Iconic Hoodies To Put Your Logo On

Customizing hoodies remains one of the most profitable ventures for small retail fashion startups and print shops across America. The hoodie market continues to boom, with branded sweatshirts generating consistent revenue streams for decorators who are creative enough.

The catch? Not all hoodies accept decoration methods equally.

Successful print shops figured out early that matching the right garment to the right technique can make or break their profit margins. Like screen printing on cotton, sublimating polyester garments, etc. But there are still a lot of cotton, polyester, or blend options in the market. Apart from taking the decoration well, the hoodies also need to have traits that up their perceived value.

We will be looking at two decoration-ready hoodies that check all those criteria.

The HTV Champion: Port & Company PC78H Core Fleece Hoodie

Certain fabrics and blends deliver superb results with heat transfer vinyl (HTV). The process needs good, smooth surfaces for the transfers to adhere to. Cotton fibers can do that. So can cotton-poly blends. One such cotton-poly hoodie that is pretty popular in the HTV community is the Port and Company PC78H Core Fleece hoodie. The 50/50 cotton-poly blend surprisingly feels like soft cotton and provides a smooth canvas for heat transfer vinyl. The prints last longer than expected, and post-printing distortions are very rare.

Cotton content matters more than most decorators realize. Pure cotton garments can shrink unpredictably after printing. The polyester blend in the PC78H stabilizes the fabric, reducing post-printing distortion considerably. This durability and stability, combined with a very attractive price tag, make the PC78H hooded sweatshirt a marvel for decoration enthusiasts. Screen printers also appreciate how this hoodie accepts ink uniformly across large design areas. Multi-color prints register cleanly without bleeding or color mixing issues.

Screen Printing Savior: Sport-Tek F281 Super Heavyweight Hoodie

Speaking of screen prints, there aren’t a lot of super heavyweight hoodies that can take screen printing like a dream, like the F281 hooded sweatshirt from Sport-Tek. The prints project exceptional quality, enough to justify higher price points. The hoodie has a 100% ring-spun combed cotton face, making it also a terrific option for heat transfers at the hands of experts. Better still for embroidery, due to the cotton content not just on the face of the hoodie but on the inside. The Sport-Tek F281 hooded sweatshirt excels in some of the most preferred decoration applications through its construction and fabric choice.

Dense embroidery designs on the F281 maintain their shape without distorting the surrounding fabric. This stability becomes crucial for intricate logo work.

The F281’s fabric weight supports heavy embroidery without sagging, where lightweight hoodies can buckle under heavy thread work. Heavier fabrics provide the foundation needed for quality embroidered sweatshirts that maintain their appearance through repeated washing.

    Profit Margins

Custom hoodies generate different profit margins depending on the decoration method and garment cost. Screen printing typically offers higher volume profits with lower per-piece margins. Embroidery can have premium pricing but requires longer production times.

Consider the economics carefully. These two styles are among the most affordable printable hoodies in the American wholesale apparel market. The setup costs of screen printing or embroidery spread across larger orders can make bulk jobs on these styles more profitable.

Embroidery generates consistent per-piece profits regardless of order size and the investment in the garment. Offering both options is how many print shops maximize revenue opportunities.

The PC78H’s competitive wholesale price leaves room for healthy screen printing margins. The F281’s affordability and premium construction justify even higher embroidery pricing. Both hoodies support profitable business models, anyway you see it.

But there are other factors why these hoodies remain consistently popular in the apparel customization landscape.

    All The Right Color Options

It’s common knowledge that dark colors hide screen printing imperfections better than light shades. Light-colored garments showcase embroidery work more effectively. Thread colors pop against neutral backgrounds. There are a lot of subtleties here worth considering.

The PC78H comes in over 65 colors, including dark shades, light shades, and a few exotic ones. It also has a camo variant called the PC78HC. The F281 is very curated when it comes to colors, however. But the options available are popular nevertheless. The F281’s color palette includes enough options that highlight embroidered or heat-transferred designs beautifully.

Both the PC78H and F281 offer consistent sizing across their color ranges. Size consistency matters for repeat orders and inventory management. Customers do expect identical fits regardless of color choice. When using these hoodies for decoration, it’s best to document decoration areas for each size carefully. Large designs that work on XL garments may not deliver expected results in small sizes.

    Preventing Expensive Mistakes

Pre-production sampling prevents costly errors. Test both decoration methods on actual garment samples before committing to full production runs. Washing tests are a good way to assess long-term durability issues before customer delivery. However, both hoodies are known to maintain their appearance through multiple wash cycles. Screen-printed designs on the PC78H mostly resist cracking and fading. Embroidered designs on the F281 retain thread integrity reasonably well without loosening, compared to alternatives in the same price segment.

Bottom Line: Two Styles! Maximum Impact!

Ultimately, your decoration capabilities determine which hoodie serves your business best. Screen printing shops benefit from both the PC78H’s cotton-blend and competitive pricing and the F281’s super smooth surface. Embroidery specialists appreciate stable construction and appearance, both of which the hoodies offer.

Both options can make impactful custom merchandise that attracts diverse customer bases and maximizes revenue potential. You just need to match each client’s needs with the appropriate garment and decoration method for the best results. On the investment side, these garments are truly a bang for the buck.
