What Exactly Are “Loot Crates” & “Hidden Spots”?
Before diving into locations, it helps to know what kinds of interactable objects can drop Super Credits (SC), and what “hidden” means in this context.
- Sealed Pods: These are loot containers that require a one-time interaction. They often hold single loot items, which might include SC.
- Locked Containers: Bigger than sealed pods, more loot slots, higher chance of something good inside.
- Bunkers: Require more effort — they often have multiple loot slots, and sometimes need two players (or a special stratagem) to open or to open both doors. But they also give better chances of SC.
- Minor Points of Interest (POIs): These are “diamond-shaped markers” or other indicators on the map showing up spots you can visit — caches, crates, small outposts, etc. Many POIs have interactables (crates, containers, sealed pods) that can drop SC.
“Hidden spots” typically means locations you might pass by if you’re rushing the mission: behind debris, inside bunkers, in small buildings, behind crates or walls, or farther off paths. Because SC drops are random, missing one crate or locked door might cost you a decent chunk of potential credits.
Where to Find Loot & Hidden Spots that Drop Super Credits
Here are the best places to look, with strategies to hit them reliably:
1. Armored Bunkers
- Bunkers are among the top spots. They often contain three loot slots and can yield multiple items (sometimes 10 SC, sometimes you get lucky with bigger stacks).
- Locked doors or panels are common, meaning two players are needed to open some of them. But some new tools or stratagems allow a player to bypass these doors by warping inside. This allows solo players to access bunkers that previously required teammates.
- Often tucked away behind other terrain or off the beaten path, so keeping map awareness is important. Don’t sprint past closed doors or hidden entrances.
2. Locked Containers
- These boxes are spread around many POIs. Some are locked and need keys, a terminal, or even damage to break open. When you open them, you may find Super Credits and other items. If you do not want to spend a long time searching, you can also buy Helldivers 2 Super Credits to get what you need faster.
- Two slots make them better than sealed pods (which often have just one). Because of that, they are higher priority when you see them.
3. Sealed Pods
- The smallest “interaction” loot—sealed pods usually hold one item. That item may be 10 SC. It’s not usually huge, but since they’re everywhere, collecting them adds up.
- Because of randomness, sometimes you’ll find bigger stacks (rarely), so don’t skip sealed pods, especially in Trivial / low-difficulty missions.
4. Outposts, Cities, Side Caches
- Lootable interactables inside outposts and ruined cities often have locked containers or crates hidden inside buildings, basements, or behind walls.
- Side caches near edges of the map, or small “off-route” markers (POIs), can reward you with SC. Sometimes these caches aren’t obvious until you’ve explored less obvious terrain.
5. Edge-of-Map POIs & Minor POIs
- The diamond-marker POIs are your best map-markers for loot. On Trivial missions, the map size is small, so POIs are more densely packed relative to the walkable area. That means less travel time per loot opportunity.
- POIs at map edges are often overlooked by players who hug the center. Exploring toward map edges (unless dangerous terrain forces you to avoid it) increases chances of coming across hidden caches or crates.
What Difficulty & Biomes Optimize Hidden Loot
To reliably find SC, you’ll want to pick the right missions and biomes, and the right difficulty.
- Trivial / Difficulty 1 missions are ideal. Lower enemy threat, smaller maps, faster movement, more time to loot.
- Biomes that are flat, with few obstacles (desert, snow/ice, arid lands) are better because POIs and crates are easier to spot and easier to traverse between. Steep hills, dense forest, water bodies slow you down.
Tools / Stratagems / Loadout Tricks to Help Access Hidden Spots
Even once you know where to look, your gear and tools can make a big difference:
- Warp Pack: Lets players bypass locked doors by warping inside bunkers. Excellent for solo play and speed.
- Light / Scout Armor: Faster movement means more ground covered in less time. Less encumbrance makes it easier to explore.
- Boosters: Things like stamina‐enhancers or sprint boosters let you move farther without needing to rest or deal with fatigue.
- Weapons / tools that open crates efficiently: Grenades, explosives, or weapons that can break doors or barriers to reach loot.
Example Loot / SC Drop Behavior
Here’s how SC typically show up, to help you set expectations:
- Most drops are 10 Super Credits per crate, container, or sealed pod.
- Rare “jackpot” drops of 100 SC do happen, but they are much less common. Don’t count on them every run.
- When you pick up Super Credits or Medals, they go straight into your account and also your squad’s, even if you do not finish the mission or extract. This means you can focus only on finding loot. And if you want to save more time, you can also buy Helldivers 2 Medals to get rewards faster.
How to Plan a Route to Hit Hidden Loot Efficiently
To maximize what you get per mission, do some planning:
- Pick a mission on trivial difficulty in a favorable biome.
- Scan map at the start for diamond POIs, locked containers, bunkers. Try to plan a route that loops through many POIs without backtracking too much.
- If you have Warp Pack (or your team does), plan to hit bunkers first while you’re fresh.
- Go toward map edges and side POIs that may be off the beaten path.
- Use light gear and boosters so you can sprint from spot to spot.
- Don’t waste time on fights unless they block access; avoid aggressive combat if possible.
- Once you’ve looped through most POIs and loot, you can choose to abandon/return to ship or extract, depending on time and safety. But don’t extract too early if more POIs are un-looted.
Common Mistakes and Things to Avoid
Knowing what not to do helps as much as knowing what to do.
- Ignoring bunkers or locked doors because you think you can’t open them: you might with Warp Pack or teammate help. Missing them often means missing good SC drops.
- Rushing mission objectives and ignoring side loot. If your goal is loot, don’t go straight to the objective; sweep the map first.
- Picking a map or mission with lots of difficult terrain or large bodies of water — slows you massively.
- Using heavy armor or gear that slows movement — speed matters when your goal is covering many POIs.
- Forgetting that some loot is immediately awarded. Leaving before extraction is possible in farming runs (though extraction gives you mission rewards beyond just SC).
Putting It All Together: Sample Farming Run
Here’s an example of a “perfect-ish” farm run focusing on hidden spots and crates for SC:
You pick a level-1 (Trivial) mission on a flat arid planet. You equip light armor, Warp Pack, and a stamina booster. You land near the map edge and sprint toward nearby POIs. You first open a bunker using Warp Pack, getting SC from its three loot slots. Then you move to locked containers in small outposts, broken buildings, and sealed pods hidden behind terrain or wreckage.
You keep looping outward to side caches and POIs near map edges, checking behind structures. You avoid fights until you’re forced in or unless enemies are guarding loot spots. You loot as much as possible, then extract once you’ve cleared most loot spots or run low on stamina and health. After about 20-30 minutes, repeat. Over several runs, you collect hundreds of SC just from crates, bunkers, and sealed pods.
